Marcel Dettmann

 

Berlin's Berghain would be unimaginable without Marcel Dettmann. And Dettmann without the club. Hardly any other musician has shaped the techno revival of recent years as much as he has. His own labels MDR (Marcel Dettmann Records) and Bad Manners serve as a platform for him to give shape to his musical vision and to set impulses in the scene by releasing new emerging talents.

 His releases include two albums on Ostgut Ton, numerous singles and remixes for artists of different genres such as Junior Boys, Fever Ray, Moderat, Commix, Clark or Laibach. He also brings up mix compilations for London's Club fabric, Berlin's Berghain, the Belgian techno label Music Man and one edition each of the DJ Kicks series of the label !K7 Records as well as the Selectors series of Dekmantel. Marcel also designed the sound concept for the exhibition New Works by photographer Frederike von Rauch. In addition, Marcel's single "Seduction feat. Emika" serves as the soundtrack for the short film by screenwriter Parker Ellermann.

In 2021, Marcel went among the film musicians and contributed a soundtrack for the fourth part of the dystopian Matrix saga and even came up with a remix to it´s release.
